ABOUT
NISSAN- The
company founded their success by looking at consumer needs and delivering
cars and trucks that not only satisfied them, but provided something
extra. The public wanted reliable transportation, and the Datsun
510 not only provided sturdiness but economy, and surprisingly,
performance. As the VW Beetle was disappearing as a cult car, speed
shops shifted their focus to the spirited Datsun that beat Alfas,
Lotus and BMWs on the racetrack, and obliterated them all in the
showroom.
THE
LEADER IN INNOVATION:The
company invented the mini-pickup that dominated the marketplace
in the seventies. At one time there were over 10 models sold in
the U.S., and while they have been one of the victims of the SUV
craze, now Nissan has a four-door crew-cab version of the Frontier
that is likely to reverse that trend. They were the first Asian
company to build a U.S. plant, and their Smyrna, Tennessee facility
is consistently rated as the most productive U.S. factory.
BEGINNING
their involvement in America has grown in many respects. Investing
in America: They strongly believe in designing, testing and building
automobiles in the same market where they're sold. Nearly 70% of
the Nissans sold here are built by American workers, and Nissan
directly employs over 10,000 Americans. Developing communities:
Nissan's U.S. operations are integral contributing members of the
communities where they do business. They proudly sponsor sporting
and cultural events as well as support local charities. This is
an auto manufacturer AutoNetDirect believes will flourish big time
into this decade.
There
was the Z car that reshaped the way we looked at sports car, and
probably hastened the demise of the British roadsters. Suddenly
Americans realized they could have sporting fun without the risk
of being stranded in quaint and curious places.
IS
NISSAN ABOUT TO DO IT AGAIN ?

It's
the stuff that dreams were made of. And it's time to dream again:
The legendary Z car is making a comeback. No arrival date has been
solidified -- but you can see how this concept captures the spirit
of the original, classic 240 Z, one of the most popular and acclaimed
sports cars of all time. "We want the casual onlooker to know that
this is a powerful front-engine, rear-wheel drive vehicle, and we
think this concept does just that," said Jerry Hirshberg, President
of Nissan Design International. The car was taken from the original
drawings to a running vehicle in record time -- just under 12 weeks.
